Happy Mothers Day PFPMA!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I would like to recognize the Professional Football Players Mothers Association (PFPMA). These women have banded together to help support and guide one another through every stage of the NFL Life and have formed a lasting bond in the process.

PFPMA is a 501(c)(3) organization that started with a group of ladies who wanted to form a support group. These women quickly realized when their son reaches the NFL, that their life changed, along with that of the young man that they raised.

With this new status in life, comes a high expectation of the players and their families. This organization was formed so that mothers would have someone that they could relate to and share some of the same experiences that they were going through. The women found that with fame came new obstacles, so a support system became imperative in adjusting to this new lifestyle. They also wanted to help change the image of their sons and professional football players in general.

Now in its 21st year, the PFPMA has had many influential NFL Moms involved in the organization serving as leaders and supporters.  Mrs. Donna George (Eddie George), Wilma Char McNabb (Donovan McNabb) and Denise Wayne (Reggie Wayne) were some of the earlier pioneers.

While the founders set the groundwork, today’s moms have continued to push the organization forward, including its current second vice president Gwendolyn Jenkins, mother of Philadelphia Eagles cornerback and Super Bowl champ Malcolm Jenkins.

The organization prides itself not only on its support foundation for one another but also the important role of giving back to its community. The women hold many charitable events and are very active in their respective communities lending a hand to one another in their causes.

Happy Mother’s Day to these Fabulous Women!
